Obituary of Alagene Mathis
Alagene H. Mathis, 84, passed away on February 21, 2012, in the presence of her loving family, after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 12, 1927 in Kingsland , GA to James W. and Pearl Horne Harrell. Alagene attended Andrew Jackson High School , was a member of Rubies for God chapter of the Red Hat Society and a lifetime member of Franklin Street Baptist Church . She was predeceased by her spouses William C. Taylor (1944) and Kerby S. Mathis (1993). She is survived by her daughters, Shelia Mathis and Lynelle Graves (Harry), grandchildren, Marisa Graves and H.B. Graves, all of Jacksonville, sister in law, Eunice Mathis Russell of Baton Rouge, LA, 19 nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Alagene was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00pm on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road , Jacksonville , FL 32211 . Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00 with Dr. Terry R. Gore officiating. Entombment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery .
