Obituary of Albert Buzash

Lt. Col. Albert S. Buzash, U.S.Army, Ret., 92, passed away on September 16 after an extended illness. A native of Trenton, New Jersey, he joined the New Jersey National Guard as a teenager while studying architecture at Drexel University. Colonel Buzash, a veteran of World War II including the Battle of the Bulge, served 28 years in Field Artillery. After WW II, his commands were in Japan, Germany, and Taiwan, as well as numerous posts in the United States, retiring at Fort Rucker, Alabama in 1959.

Upon retirement from the military, he moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, for a second career with Milton-Roy Corporation and a third with Roll-a-Way Corporation. He and his wife, Georgia, moved to Jacksonville in 1989. They were members of the Fort Caroline Christian Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Georgia West Buzash, his children, Albert S. Buzash, Jr. of Hartford, CT, Brenda B. Cook of Orange Park, and Susan B. Varner of Jacksonville, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and preceded in rest with the Lord by his sister, Irene Yost, and his great-granddaughter, Sarah Beth Jones.

Visitation will be at 1:30 PM with Services to follow at 3:00 PM on Friday September 19th at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road. The family requests contributions be sent to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
