Obituary of Alma Epps

Alma Edwards Epps was born on December 8, 1920 in Tampa, Florida to Albert B. Edwards of Tampa, (predeceased) and Lenora Monsalvatge Rollins of Tampa (predeceased). Alma received her formal education in Tampa and continued her education at Florida A&M College where she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

After graduation, Alma moved to New York where she married Dolphus Allen Manns, Sr. to this union they borne three children: Dolphus Allen Manns, Jr. (predeceseased), Pamela Manns Randall (Charlie), and Donald Edward Manns (predeceased) (Helen Patricia). She leaves to cherish her memory grandchildren: Nia Manns; Anika (Rahman) Khan; Tarana (Michael) Hutchinson; Nerissa Randall; and Adonia Manns. Great-grands: Maleek Michael, Mahlon, Hassan, Meshael, and Naseem. Extended family Ruby Riley and family, Lillian Murray Davis, Charlie Brown, Gray family, and Taylor Care Center.



Upon retiring from the New York State Department of Corrections in 1994, Mrs. Epps moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Epps was a Life Member of National Council of Negro Woman and Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

Family will receive friends at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 1159 Mill Creek Road, on Friday, May 9, 2008, for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
