Alvin Martin Holmes (Marty) entered this world on July 24, 1947 to Vivian and Alvin Holmes in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.  The family was deeply rooted in faith and attended St Rose de Lima church and school before relocating to Los Angeles, CA. In 1964, driven by a desire to serve God and Country Marty joined the United States Marine Corps and obtained the rank of Master Sergeant.  On October 27, 1990 Marty married the love of his life Renee Dillard-Holmes.  God told Marty that he would bless him and allow him to travel the world.  God kept his promise and Marty traveled around the world twice.  Trials in his later years including the loss of his wife Renee and battling cancer did not diminish his faith in God.

Marty opened his eyes in heaven surrounded by family and friends on December 17, 2021.

Marty was preceded in death by Alvin Wesley Holmes, Vivian Marie Holmes, Renee Dillard-Holmes , Greta Saucier (Alexandria), Jane Saucier (Hepburn), Kenneth Saucier, Consuelo Holmes (Lewis), Mary Ellen Holmes (Green), and Donald Holmes.

Marty leaves to mourn his passing, Sister-Lois Saucier (Johnson) of Los Angeles, CA, Brother-Donald Saucier of Bremington, WA, Twin Brother and Sister-in-Law-Calvin and Dorothy Rochon of O'Fallon, MO, Brother-in-Law Clyde Lewis of Blythewood, SC, Daughter and Son-in-Law Donyale and Sean Brewster of Milwaukee, WI, Son- Michael Holmes of Jacksonville, FL, Son-David Holmes of Belleville, IL.  Grandchildren, Michael Holmes Jr, Zion Holmes, Gabriel Holmes and Derryn Holmes.  A host of loved nieces, nephews and godchildren.
