IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna M
Cowdrick
November 24, 1928 – August 3, 2025
Anna M. Cowdrick, 96, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025 after a short hospital stay. She was born on November 24, 1928 in Susquehanna, PA to C. Lamont Nelson & Ruth Helen Nelson (DeWitt). Anna was raised on a dairy farm in Starrucca, PA that she always spoke fondly of. She had 2 sisters; Lydabel Glover (deceased), Sandra Schwankert (deceased) and 1 brother; Paul Nelson (deceased).
In her senior year of high school, she met and fell in love with her husband Howard W. Cowdrick (deceased) from Toms River, NJ, who she married after graduation on August 4, 1947. Anna & Howard had five children; 2 sons - Howard L. Cowdrick & Curtis B. Cowdrick along with 3 daughters - Christina C. Allen (Ron), Sharon L. Auer & Jewel A. Sheldon (deceased). She held her two nieces Bonnie Smith of PA and Ruthann Buckhalter of NC in her heart. She felt greatly blessed to have 5 grandchildren: Bobbi-Jo Lokietek (John), Jammi M. Park (Allen), Frank E Pocsi, Jr. (Jeannie), Jason Pocsi (deceased) and Justin Pocsi, along with her nine great- grandchildren.
Anna was a loving devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved the Lord, her family and friends. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Toms River, NJ, a devoted stay-at-home mother while raising her five children, a Sunday School teacher, a community volunteer, a driver for Meals on Wheels, a caregiver for her ageing mother along with her passion for feeding the needy.
Through her church in New Jersey, she helped open a food bank to provide nourishment for those in need. She continued serving others when she moved to Jacksonville, 27 years ago and joined Monument Point Fellowship Church in east Arlington. She coordinated food collections and delivery to Arlington Community Services, donated food for the children's back pack ministry, helped collect and deliver meals at Thanksgiving and provided food bags for anyone that was in need that stopped by the church office for help.
In her later years she started a card ministry to send birthday, get well, thinking of you and congratulations cards to the folks that she knew and met along life's journey. She always included an uplifting prayer, quote or poem in her cards that we have heard brought lots of smiles to those who received them.
Anna was a Christian who loved attending Monument Point Fellowship and studying the Bible. She was never afraid to admit she loved our Lord Jesus Christ and serving others. She always had a smile, a kind word and a willingness to greet visitors who came through her church doors.
A Celebration of Life service for Anna Cowdrick will be held at Monument Point Fellowship, 13720 Mount Pleasant Road, Jacksonville, FL 32225 on August 15, 2025 at 3:00 P.M.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends!
