Obituary of Annie Griffin
Annie L. Sherlock Griffin, 84, passed away peacefully after an extended illness. Ann, as she was known by her deceased husband Edward Lee, graduated valedictorian from both Elizabeth City High School and Louisburg College. She devoted her life to providing for her two sons; first as a nurturing mother and homemaker, then after they were both well along in school, with a distinguished career as Executive Secretary to the Director of Central Services for the City of Jacksonville, which enabled both of them to get a college education.
Ann is survived by her sons Chad (Melody) of Jacksonville and Doug (Carol Tompkins) of Seattle, her sister Jean Shannonhouse of Melbourne, her sister-in-law Jane Pace (Bryant) of Norfolk, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a thoughtful and giving person with an incredibly cheerful disposition, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. There will be a graveside service at Arlington Park Cemetery, Jacksonville, on Saturday, February 6th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in her remembrance.
