Obituary

Antionette (Toni) Pagano Bingenheimer Sutton Fisher died June 6, 2022, in her home on Pine Island Drive. She was born in Warren, Pa., and resided in Jacksonville, FL since a teenager. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended Jones Business College. Toni also acquired a Florida Realtor License. Toni is predeceased by her mother, Nan E. Bingenheimer, Father, Louis Pagano, Stepfather, Harry P. Bingenheimer, First husband Carlton S. Sutton Jr., Daughter, Valerie Sutton Knuckles, Son, Carlton S. Sutton. Ill and granddaughter, Nicole Schuman. She is survived by her devoted husband, R. Gerald (Jerry) Fisher and her sister, Beverly B. Meeks (Robert). She was a proud of her family, daughter, Nanneta Sutton and son, Craig M. Sutton, Sr. her grandchildren, Angela Groner (Jack), Rachelle Sutton, Craig M. Sutton, Jr. and great grandchildren; Valerie, Garrett and Christopher Schuman; Great Grandchildren, Celina Belle Simpson Memphis Schuman, and Antionette Lily Sutton. Stepsons, Lance, Dean, and Jessie Fisher with too numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Suddenly a young widow at 34 years old with four young children to support, Toni (Antoinette) entered what she cheerfully referred to as the "Survival Years". Self-reliantance required she began to emulate the entrepreneur spirit of her Husband, Carlton and his Mother, Mayme. She became the first female Florida Independent Auto Dealer, operating their business, Sutton Motors. A few years later, She built an apartment complex across from Jacksonville University and later to replicate it into two apartment complexes. Sutton Properties was established. The success of her apartment buildings launched her real investment and development career which endured a long fifty-five years. She built six homes, multiple Office buildings and invested in numerous commercial properties. During this time, she also earned her real estate sales associate license. Toni had an independent spirit, enjoyed challenges, and enjoyed traveling. A huge believer community involvement, Toni served on executive boards of: Southwest Council of the Chamber of Commerce; Board of Governors; Construction Trades Qualifying Board; Visiting Nurses Association; Bull Snort; and served as president of Gateway Women's Club. She was chosen as Small Businesswoman of the year in 1976. She also volunteered at the Jacksonville Humane Society, Baptist Hospital, Red Cross NAS Hospital, Guardian Ad Ulen, counselor with SBA's, Service Corp. of Retired Executives (SCORE) and was "Suzie Q"; the clown! She was an active member of the Mandarin Business Assoc., Jax Exchange Club, Episcopal Church of our Savior, San Jose Country Club and San Jose Yacht Club and Gator Clown Club. Toni cherished time spent with her husband dancing the night away. Toni would like to be remembered as a loving warm personality. We have retired her personalized license plate.
