Antoinette Khalil Zaiter, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on September 3, 2026 at the age of 94.
Born July of 1932 in Yaffa, Palestine, Antoinette was the third child (of eleven) of Khalil & Shafouka Shami. She met her husband & married Michel Sarkis Zaiter at Majdalaiya, Lebanon in 1952, and together they built a loving family. They were married for 58 years before Michel went to be with the Lord.
Antoinette was a devoted wife and mother. She raised four boys with tenderness and strength, while also caring for elderly parents and grandparent and never complaining. Michel & Antoinette filled their home with love, hard work and a spirit of caring and compassion for others.
No matter the difficulty or challenge, her attitude was to make the best of everything. She was always thankful to the Lord for His goodness to her and her family. Especially, she was grateful that the Lord brought them to the United States of America and always met their needs no matter how difficult it seemed. But, most of all, she was thankful that the Lord Jesus Christ saved her and gave her eternal life.
She is survived by her children: Sarkis (Victoria), Bakhos (Diana), George and Jean-Pierre (Suzanne); grandchildren: Michael (Heather), Marie (Mark), Bethany, Brandon (Cassi), Alex (Josie), Andrew (Rachel), Jonathan (Victoria), Roselyn (Colt), Joshua (Drake) and Hannah; great grandchildren: Gavin, Brooklyn, Paxton, Holland, Rosemary, Arthur, Kyria, Hezekiah, Josiah, Levi, Evangelynn and Ezekiel; and siblings: Antoine (Rosemary) Shami, Emily (Luca) Forte, Nadia (John) Joubran, Joseph (Margaret) Shami and Peter (Yegette) Shami. She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Michel; siblings: Elias (Diane) Shami, Betty (Albert) Kishek, George (Rosevita) Shami, Yvette (Anthony) Homsany and Emile (Samia) Shami.
The family has planned a Celebration of Life to take place Friday, September 11, 2026 at Kernan Church, located at 4000 Kernan Blvd S, Jacksonville, FL 32224. Visitation with family begins at 11am, with the service beginning at 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations in memory of Antoinette to the City Rescue Mission in Jacksonville, FL.
