Obituary of Arlene Wilson
Mrs. Arlene Lanora Wilson, age 73, died at the Community Hospice Bailey Family Center in St. Augustine, Florida on Saturday, March 19, 2011 following a courageous, nearly four-year battle with lung cancer.
Mrs. Wilson was born on February 26, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Lloyd and Hilda Rice.
She was happily married for 43 years to Edward Wilson, a Navy veteran who served in Vietnam, from whom she is predeceased. After their marriage in 1956, they moved to the West Coast where they lived for several years. They traveled from California to the Arlington area of Jacksonville, Florida in 1968, where they raised their family.
Mrs.Wilson is survived by her sons Michael L. (Sandy) Wilson, and Ken (Melony) Wilson; six grandchildren, Wil Hand and Sara Wilson, Chris and Brittney Wilson, and Taylor and Trey Watson; her sister, Ruth (Pete) Auld; and her beloved Pomeranian Teddy.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Junior Adams ; a sister Naomi Gray; and a nephew Victor Gray.
A quiet woman and an avid reader, Mrs. Wilson retired from the Duval County Library System in 2010. Enamored of all animals, great and small, she also served as a volunteer for the National Audubon Society.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Arlington Park Cemetery and Funeral Home, located at 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211, with internment immediately following at the Arlington Park Cemetery.
