IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arnette "Nanny"
Wilson
December 10, 1939 – April 23, 2020
Arnette Wilson, 80, was born on December 10th, 1939 and passed away with family by her side on April 23rd, 2020. She was our angel on earth and is now our angel in Heaven.
She was born in Rehobeth, Alabama to the late Greenberry and Inez (Fears) Wilkinson.
Arnette was a loving wife, mother, sister, friend, and Nanny.
She was the light of our lives. Nanny made sure everyone in her life felt safe and loved, she was this way even with strangers. She loved to walk up and greet babies in the grocery store. She could start a conversation with everyone and anyone. Her laugh was infectious and her love was pure. She had many pets in her life but Lassie and Champ stole her heart.
She loved to garden, bake for everyone including the mailman and the children in her neighborhood, she found joy in cooking early breakfasts and big southern suppers for her loved ones, watching reruns of westerns (particularly Gunsmoke ) and she even loved to do her own yardwork in the sweltering Florida heat! Oh, let us not forget her true love for Diet Pepsi and Queen Anne chocolate cherries.
Her children and grandchildren were her biggest joy. She was a true gift to this world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wilson, whom she met at Memorial Hospital where she worked as a dietician. She was lovingly known as "Nettie" by her peers at the hospital. They met in the cafeteria where Billy was feeding his ill mother. He saw Arnette and instantly fell in love. He invited her and her children to attend a Sunday church service with him. Nanny recalled her friend at the hospital telling her, "Nettie, any man who feeds his ill mother and invites you to worship God is a man worth keeping." They soon married and filled their red brick home with the white fence on Rogero road with so much love and laughter. Nanny made sure the garden was always blooming with her flowers.
She was also preceded in death by her Sisters; Virginia M. (Don) Kightlinger, Sarah H. Raulerson and her brother Thomas (Linda) Wilkinson.
Granddaughter; Taylor Reinhart Roberts.
Surviving her are her children; Wanda Kaye (Billy) Parmer-Walker, Randy Lomax Parmer, William (Toni) Wilson, Linda Wilson, Marcia Wilson, and Loretta Reinhart Roberts.
Siblings; Sandra Fletcher
Grandchildren; Tiffany Ann Baum (Blayne), Sloan Nichole (Taylor) Parmer-Owensby, Brock Lomax (Abigail) Parmer, Sean Wilson, Mindy Russell and Patrick Wilson.
Great-Grandchildren; Jeremy Brooks Baldwin Jr, Alyssa Arnette Marie Baldwin, Teagyn Skye Owensby and Chandler Shae Owensby.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 29th at Arlington Park Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida. In true Nanny fashion, she will be wearing her pink lipstick and her favorite glasses.
We love you endlessly, Nanny.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
