Barbara Bell, 67, passed away on November 28
th
surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 3, 1951 in Cooperstown, NY to Louise and Joseph Becker. She graduated from Laurens Central School in Laurens, NY. She attended college at Delhi Tech in Delhi, NY before moving to California. She lived in Richmond, VA for several years and then moved to Jacksonville, FL.
Barbara worked for One To One Credit Union (formerly Florida Telco) for 37 years as a teller moving up to loan specialist. She loved retirement and was always focused on her family.
She leaves behind her husband and love of her life, Douglass. They were married for 21 years and she became the loving mother to his two daughters, Jennifer VanZandt (Nicholas) and Melissa Frankie. She loved being called Gram by her four grandsons, Bailey and Joey Frankie and Nicholas and Alexander VanZandt
Her family includes sisters Dorothy Boyle (Michael) (both deceased), Patricia Whitmore (Richard), Mary Ellen Durling, brothers Richard Becker (June Griffin), Thomas Becker, James Becker (Pamela), William Becker (Margaret), and brother-in-law John Bell (Judy). Her best friend of 40 years, Sandy Stegall was like a sister. Her many nieces and nephews were all part of those surrounding her with love.
Barbara was a friend to anyone she met. She was outgoing, caring and giving and always ready to welcome friends to her home. She belonged to a Bunco group for over 20 years. She loved to garden and her canned tomatoes were her pride and joy. She loved to cook and family gatherings were always full of laughter. She also loved all of her dogs and her current dog, Betsy, was always ready to jump in her lap.
Barbara's family wants to thank the doctors and nurses who took care of her, especially Dr. Patel, Dr. Kanaparti and Dr. Chakravarty who were with her every step of her journey.

A memorial service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday December 19, 2018 at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida. Pastor Bruce Jones will be officiating. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Arlington Park Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Florida (904) 724-6384.
