Barbara Elizabeth
Kawchak
Dec 30, 1947 — Aug 9, 2026
Jacksonville, FL
Barbara Elizabeth Kawchak, born December 30, 1947, in College Park, Georgia, passed away on August 9, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Barbara will be remembered as a woman of spirit, devotion, and unmistakable personality. She loved God and was known as a great mother, a role she carried with deep meaning and care. She found joy in the things that made life lively and memorable: playing poker and Yahtzee, cheering on football, and sharing the passions that brought laughter and connection to those around her. She especially loved the Georgia Bulldogs and the Jacksonville Jaguars, following the game with enthusiasm that was entirely her own.
Music also held a special place in Barbara’s heart. She was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley, and that love was touched by family memory, as her father was known for being good at playing Elvis. Barbara also took delight in the unusual and adventurous, enjoying ghost hunting with her daughter, a shared experience that surely created stories and moments to be treasured. Among the things she was especially proud of was owning a 1979 Camaro Z28, a detail that reflected her style and the confidence with which she moved through life.
Above all, Barbara’s life was rooted in family. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Gibbs, with whom she shared not only the bond of mother and daughter but also memorable adventures and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kawchak, and by her parents, Rufus Surles and Martha Williams. May the memory of Barbara Elizabeth Kawchak bring comfort to those who loved her and remain a lasting blessing in their hearts.
