IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bessie Wynn
Stovall
November 14, 1935 – May 26, 2025
Bessie Florence Wynn Stovall, 89, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025 from natural causes. Bessie was born November 14, 1935 in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Jethro Lafayette Wynn and Mary Dye Wynn. Bessie graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1953.
Bessie married Donald (DeeDee) Terry Stovall in Jacksonville, Florida on February 28, 1954. They were married for 71 years. DeeDee passed away earlier this year on March 3rd.
Bessie was the ultimate homemaker, as she prioritized her family and her children's upbringing. After successfully raising their three children, Bessie and DeeDee began square dancing. They loved the relationships that were established, traveled all over the country attending square dancing conventions, and were so involved that they later became President of the Northeast Florida Square and Round Dancers Association.
She also loved to crochet. One of Bessie's gifts was to donate to Wolfson Children's Hospital crocheted hats for newborns. Another talent of Bessie's was her cooking. Many were fortunate to receive an annual gift of her specialty: divinity. Bessie became a member of Arlington United Methodist Church in 1966. She was a member of the Church's Chancel Choir and the United Methodist Women Sunshine Circle.
Remaining to cherish Bessie's memory are son Donald Terry Stovall, Jr., daughter Mary Elizabeth Stovall, grandson Matthew Preston Stovall, and great granddaughter Riley Elizabeth Stovall, and countless nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Donald (DeeDee) Terry Stovall, and son Raymond Brian Stovall.
