Betty Jean Howton, 87, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born in Kingston, TN on January 23, 1938 to parents Charles and Mary.

Betty "Mom" "Mamaw" loved to read and spend time with her family. She was a devoted wife for 43 years to the love of her life until his death in 2019. She was known for her compassionate nature, giving spirit, and witty sense of humor. She loved her family deeply and cherished and treated her friends as family. Betty was always ready to lend a helping hand and offered words of comfort to whomever needed it.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Buddy) E. Howton, parents Charles and Mary.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Anna McDonald (Rick) of Jacksonville, FL, Karen Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Lynda Basgall (John) of Greenville, SC and son Charles (Curly) E. Howton (Candy) of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Bryan Johnson (Kat), Jean Anderson, Edward McDonald, Brandon Johnson (Stephanie), Erica Ward (Russell), Eric McDonald, Nathan McDonald, Cassie Eichholz (Eric), Chelsea Fulton (Tayler), Christie McAllister (Leah), Cilee Gilmore (Trevor) along with 15 great-grandchildren.
