Obituary

Betty Jean Williams, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep following a brief illness on May 23, 2020. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Wallace M. Williams (Sept. 11, 2008), and her granddaughter, Erika Hazouri Barefoot (March 22, 2020).

Betty was born in Milton, FL  June 19, 1925 to Charlie and Mamie Hoodless. She met the love of her life, Wallace M. Williams at age 18, and they married and traveled the world during his 22 year career in the Air Force. They were stationed in places such as Hawaii, Okinawa, Germany, Fort Walton Beach and Topeka, Kansas. While in Germany they made the decision to adopt their two children which were the joy of their lives. Betty has lived in Jacksonville, FL for the last 58 years. She worked and retired after 25 years at Sears in Unit Buying Control and Catalogue Shopping. She was a charter member of Holiday Hill Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. She loved playing dominoes every Monday with her friends, and reading her Christian love stories. She also enjoyed many years in Welaka, FL fishing and cooking those fish for her friends and family and making her famous hushpuppies.

She was known as Gran-Gran to her 3 grandchildren, David Williams (Jennifer), Erika Hazouri Barefoot (Johnny), and Jacob Hazouri (Kimber) whom she loved with all her heart. She leaves behind her two children, son Leslie Williams (Edith) and daughter, Marjory Hazouri (James). She also has 4 great-grandsons, Jaden Mendez, Johnathan Barefoot, Cason and Asher Hazouri. She also has numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to the continuing pandemic there will be a graveside service only at Arlington Park Cemetery (6920 Lonestar Rd, Jacksonville, FL) on Wednesday, May 27 th at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Albert Byrd, pastor of Holiday Hill Baptist Church, will be officiating at the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Holiday Hill Baptist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Arlington Park Funeral Home.
