Obituary of Betty Johnson

Betty J. Johnson (75) slipped away peacefully early Sunday Morning 8/9/09 to go meet up with Jesus.. She was a Jacksonville original. She was born 8/27/1933 to Catherine B. Cassell she was raised here with her family in Springfield/Beaches and attended and graduated from St. Joe Catholic School 1952. She met and married Lowery E Johnson (USN) Sept. 3 1959 and transferred up and down the East Coast but returned and settle here in Jacksonville with her family and friends.

She was a very devoted wife and mother. She with her husband have always been involved with their children, grandchildren and community, everything from PTA, Pop Warner sports, Sandalwood Marching Band, Sunday School teacher (1 & 2 graders) at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. She served several yrs as an Asst. Clerk at Voter Precinct 2F for Duval County along with countless trips to the beaches, zoo and Mosh with her grandchildren over the last 21 years. She also was an ardent sports enthusiastic. She enjoyed her tennis, golf, basketball and loved her Florida Gators. She will truly be missed by all. She fought these last 3 ½ years with dignity and grace all while battling cancer but never once gave up or gave in, she truly was victorious until the end

She is survived by her husband of 50 yrs Lowery E. Johnson, Her Uncle, Fred (Bo) Brooks. Her daughter A. Renee Fries (Lee) son Robert M. (Cindy) son L. Vernon (Shelly). Her 3 grandsons AJ, Thomas, Sean and her 3 granddaughters Nicole, Morgan, Elizabeth.

Family will recieve friends at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL, 32211 on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 from 6-8pm. Her funeral service will be held at Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church, 6429 Atlantic Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32211 at 10:00am with intermen to follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
