Billie (Bill) Stevenson, 90, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on August 29, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Family will receive guests at Terry Parker Baptist Church, on September 8, 2023, from 5-6 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., September 9, 2023, at Terry Parker Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida and he will be laid to rest at Arlington Park Cemetery.
Bill was born in Seneca, South Carolina to Lois Mae and Roy Dalton Stevenson on September 9, 1932. He married Barbara A. Carnes on December 21, 1952, in Seneca, South Carolina. Bill was enrolled at the University of South Carolina until he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, conflict. He later owned Stevenson Typewriters in the 50s and early 60s. He went on to work for Sears Robuck Inc. as a Department Manager and Home Improvement Salesman until he retired in the late 1990's. He was a member of the Morocco Temple Shriners Oriental Band Unit for over 25 years, and you could often see Bill walking and hitting the gong in numerous Shriner parades. He was a devoted member of Terry Parker Baptist Church and was among the first members since 1959. Bill loved the Lord, his wife, and his family and this was evident in his daily life. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Team serving and bringing hope to those in need.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Bobbie Stevenson, his parents, Lois Mae and Roy Dalton Stevenson, Brother, Troy Stevenson, and Sister, Martha Stevenson Smith.
Survivors include his children, Cynthia Scheller (Joel), Gregory Stevenson (Tammy), and Bradley Stevenson (Helena), eight Grandchildren and ten Great-Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Stevenson, Bradley Stevenson, Jason Stevenson, Landon Stevenson, and John Keehn IV.
