Obituary of Bruce Hempel
Our beloved husband, father and brother passed away peacefully on July 24, 2015 at the age of 74. He was born on October 9, 1940, in New York, NY to Arnold S. Hempel and M. Madeline Hempel.
He graduated from Hanover High School in 1958 in Wilmington, NC and attended North Carolina State University. He served in the US Army 9th "Manchu" Infantry Regiment from 1960 to 1963. He moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1963 and joined the CSX Transportation (Railroad), formerly known as Atlantic Coastline. Additionally, he was an EMT, a Duval County 4-Wheel Drive Posse member, security guard instructor and a Cub Scout Leader, as a way of giving back to the community.
He is survived by his second wife Barbara, son John Arnold, grandson John A II, brother Dwight J and spouse Judi, and step-daughter Terry Jo Fulgenzi. He was preceded in death by his first wife Jewel E Hempel.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 5 pm at the Arlington Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
On Wednesday, July 29th the funeral will take place at 10 am followed by reception at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 6801 Merrill Road, Jacksonville, FL 32277.
