Born on Christmas Day in 1980 to Joseph and Stephanie Gates, Bryan Gates was a standout student at Terry Parker High School. His basketball skills earned him the nickname "big ups" during his middle school years.

Tragically, Bryan Christopher Gates, 43, passed away on August 1, 2024, in his hometown of Jacksonville. Known for his caring nature and strong commitment to his loved ones, Bryan was a beloved member of the community. He dedicated years to landscaping, showcasing his talent in the craft.

In his free time, Bryan enjoyed watching sports, cooking, woodworking, and spending quality moments with family and friends. These activities brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

Bryan is survived by his son Bryan Christopher Gates, Jr., his parents Joseph Lawrence Gates (Jan) and Stephanie Arlene Cobb (Don), his grandmother Eleanor Jones, brothers Andre Lamar Williams and Robert Anthony Gates, step-sisters Julia Cobb-Webb and Jane Cobb, as well as cherished cousins Anthony and Nikie Gates.

He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends who mourn his loss. Bryan was preceded in death by his stepfather James "Jim" Cobb and grandfather George Sapp.

Though deeply missed, Bryan Gates' legacy of warmth, kindness, and love will endure through the lives he touched.
