Obituary of Carl Pampiano
PIAMPIANO
Lt Colonel (Retired) Carl P. Piampiano, 88, passed away January 1,
2008. Mr. Piampiano was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 17, 1919 to Nicolo and Rosaria Piampiano. From 1941 to 1953 the Colonel served in the U.S Army during WW II and Korean wars. Upon his retirement in 1953 he continued to serve his country in the United States Army Reserves until 1969. He was awarded the following; Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (EAME), DUB, WW II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and Four Over Seas Bars and the American Defense Ribbon. The colonel served with the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442 Regimental Combat Team, Military Intelligence Service (MIS); the most decorated military unit in history. In 1981 Carl and his wife Jeanette moved to Jacksonville, Florida to be near family. He is preceded by his wife Jeanette and survived by his nieces, Virginia Collins, Patty Bush, Luann Causland and Kay Young.
Family will receive friends at Arlington Park Cemetery at 6920 Lone Star Road, for a graveside service, which will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.
