Obituary of Caroline Snyder
Caroline M. Snyder (Tim), age 87, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010. Tim was born in Bronx, NY, on August 28, 1923, to George and Carrie Rudolph. After joining the US Navy Waves during World War II as a parachute rigger, she met and married Richard (Dick) Snyder in 1946, moving several times during his career with the Navy, and finally settling in Jacksonville in 1954. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Tim and Dick spent their retirement years traveling the world and enjoying the many friends they met through the Shrine. Tim was a charter member of St. Mathews Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher, a dedicated Camp Fire Girl Leader for over 15 years, an election poll worker for 32 years, and a volunteer worker. Her volunteer work included many years at the Public Health Clinic in Arlington, an active parent in the PTA, Lutheran Social Services and a past President of the Homemakers Club. Tim also supported her husband for over 30 years in the Masons and Morocco Temple Shrine Hospitality Unit.Tim was predeceased by her parents, brother, sister and husband of 61 years, Dick Snyder. Survivors include her two daughters, Diane (Marc) Tamplin of Jacksonville, Joan (Russ) Hoffman of Egg Harbor, NJ, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sister in law and brother in law, Roberta and Al Pistorius of Blue Point, NY, and many nieces and nephews also of Long Island, NY.
Family will receive friends at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, for a visitation on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm and a funeral service will be held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 6801 Merrill Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32277, (904) 744-5333 on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
