Obituary

Celestino was born on April 26, 1924 to Nicolas Hernando and Basilia Santos Hernando in Laong City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was the third born out of five children, and his siblings were Cleotilde Hernando Leao, Lolita Hernando Pascaran, Juan Santos Hernando, and Leonida Hernando Garcia. Celestino's parents died at a young age, so he supported himself through college by working as a security guard at Fabella Hospital where he met the love of his life, Rosa Martinez Hernando. They were married in holy matrimony on May 17, 1948 and raised five successful children together. He graduated from The University of the Philippines and worked as the manager and CPA of Ford Motor Company and Alpha Insurance Company. Celestino was also a Professor in Accountancy at Xavier University of Cagayan De Oro City and at Ateneo De Davao University. He was once the president of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants and as well as an active member of the Rotary Club of the Philippines. He retired from Firestone Company as a CPA and credit manager in Manila, and in May of 1992, Rosa and Celestino decided to take a leap of faith and uproot their lives and move to Jacksonville, Florida. Even though he was retired, he was a firm believer in working hard and staying busy, so he took a job at Publix and retired from there after 15 years. There is no doubt that Celestino was a very intelligent, ambitious, and humble man. Some of his favorite activities included reading books, journals, and magazines, dining out, going on trips, walking, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his youngest sibling, Leonida Hernando Garcia; five children and their spouses: Dr. Lourdes and Jess Aquino, Dr. Flor and Mario Adraneda, Mr. Emmanuel Othello Hernando and Thelma Carlos Hernando, Ms. Rosalinda Hernado Morante, and Mr. Cesar Hernando and Imelda Ignacio Hernando; thirteen grandchildren and their spouses: Jamilla Aquino, Jill Aquino, Jane Aquino, Carlos Adraneda, Liezl Adraneda, Mrs. Maureen Adraneda-De Asis and Mr. Erik De Asis, Celina Adraneda, Mrs. Cheryl Hernando-Tiongson and Mr. Mark Glenn Tiongson, Mrs. Ria Hernando-Cesumission and Mr. Julius Cesar Cesumission, Christine Anne Hernando, Christian Karl Hernando, Lesley Anne Morante, and L.J. Morante; and great granddaughter Julianna Cerene Cesumission. Celestino was a great man of faith and devout Catholic who will be missed.
