IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Celeta Maxine
Cowart
May 30, 1931 – October 24, 2025
Our beloved Celeta Maxine Cowart (Platt) was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 24, 2025, at the blessed age of 94, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 30, 1931, in Live Oak, Florida, Celeta was the cherished daughter of Allie G. Platt (Jones) and George H. Platt.
Celeta lived a long, faith-filled life marked by compassion, generosity, and a deep love for Jesus and her family. Her heart was always open—welcoming everyone with warmth, tenderness, and grace. She spent much of her life traveling to care for family members in their times of deepest need, always placing others before herself and living out Christ's call to love and serve.
She exemplified the love of Jesus through her gentle spirit and steadfast devotion to her family.
She is survived by her children, all of whom she loved deeply: William "Butch" Cowart (Wanda Cowart), Susan Harding (Steve Harding), Melvin "Sammy" Cowart, and Linda Cowart Gaster, whose husband Kenneth "B.G." Gaster preceded Celeta in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters, who now welcome her joyfully into Heaven's embrace.
Celeta's legacy continues through her beloved children, ten grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her joyful spirit and unwavering faith.
A Celebration of Life and Reception will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM at Arlington Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211.
The service will include a time of viewing and visitation, a memorial remembrance service, followed by her interment in the mausoleum and a reception to share memories, stories, love, and refreshments.
In honor of Celeta's favorite color, pink, the family invites all who attend to wear pink as a tribute to her vibrant spirit. One of her favorite hymns, "I'll Fly Away," will be sung as we rejoice in her eternal homecoming.
Celeta Maxine's life was a living testimony of God's love, and her memory will forever be a light in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
— John 3:16
