Charlene Raye Mitchell, 83, passed away peacefully in her home on June 18, 2021. She was born on February 2, 1938 in Bluefield, WV. She married her beloved husband, Carl E. Mitchell, in 1956. They both relocated to FL which has been "home" ever since. They were married for 22 years until Carl's death in 1978.
Charlene worked in the insurance industry for several agencies in Jacksonville for over 30 years. She embraced retirement! Charlene had such a zest for living life. She loved to travel the US and abroad. She was a member of the Elks Lodge; Roll-away Square Dance and First Coast Rounds Dance Club; two Red Hat groups; and had volunteered at Memorial Hospital. She was an avid card player, a whiz at crossword puzzles, and just loved visiting and eating out with friends, which she had many!
She is survived by her niece, Kim Nolan (Mike); great nephews, Kyle and Jacob Nolan; great niece, Jessica Nolan; great-great niece, Valerie Nolan; brother-in-law, Bob Mitchell (Jean); and niece, Kim Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Mitchell and sister Marlene Hawthorne.

A celebration of Charlene's life will be held Saturday July 31, 2021 @ 2pm at the Elks Lodge (1855 West Rd, Jacksonville FL)
Memorial donations can be made to the Elks Lodge #0221 or charity of your choice and have a toast in Charlene's memory.
