Charles Edwin "Buddy" Howton, 76, passed away peacefully at home Friday, May 31, 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Ocala, Fl on July 9, 1942 to parents Herman Elmo Howton and Ada Evelyn Moury.

Buddy honorably served 12 years in the US Naval Submarine service. After the military, he served his professional career in the automotive sales industry. Buddy loved to fish, hunt and BBQ for his family. He loved to tinker on projects around the house and his family lovingly called him MacGyver. He was a devoted husband, Pop to his children and Papaw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Herman Elmo Howton and mother, Ada Evelyn Sylar (Moury) along with his sister Jo Ann Howton.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Howton, sister Virginia Sheppard of Green Cove Springs, Fl; children,  son Charles (Curly) E. Howton  (Candy) from Florence, AL, (daughters) Anna McDonald (Rick) of  Jacksonville, Karen Johnson of Jacksonville, Lynda Basgall (John) from Greenville, SC; grandchildren,  Bryan Johnson (Kat), Jean Ouellette, Edward McDonald, Brandon Johnson (Stephanie), Erica Ward (Russell), Eric McDonald, Nathan McDonald, Cassie Eichholz (Eric), Chelsea Fulton (Tayler), Christie McAllister (Leah), Cilee Howton along with 13 great –grandchildren.

An inurnment will take place in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218, where Military Honors will be rendered, scheduling is pending at this time.
