Obituary of Charles Roden
Roden, Charles J. (C.J.) 83, died Sept. 23, 2009 after a long illness. Born in Cordova, AL. He was one of nine children of Pearl and Harrison Roden. Mr. Roden was a resident of Jacksonville for 60 years. He served as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy retiring at Cecil Field after 23 years of service. He was employed with Prudential Ins. Company, retiring in 1981. Mr. Roden was a member of Arlington United Methodist Church, Fleet Reserve, and Cecil Field Men's Golf Assoc. in which he held many offices and a representative to JAGA. He was an avid golfer and a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Mr. Roden is survived by his loving wife of 54 yrs., Ruth Dixon Roden; children Mary Ellen (John) Cain, Jack, Jr., Jacksonville, Sam Roden, Dallas TX, Charles M. (Stella) Roden, Ocala, preceded in death by son Jerry Roden, two sisters Doris Thrasher, Henderson TX, Mary Sue Kacharos, Cordova AL. and six grandsons Jacob and Hunter Roden, Cameron Cain, Nick, Casey, Seth Roden, two granddaughters, Aimee Worley and Ashley Johnson, three great-grandchildren. We wish to thank our many friends and care givers who have held us up in prayer and given us love and strength. Honorary Pallbearers are Jay McKenzie, Sid Gordon, Charley Locke, Bill Utter, J.J. Mulcahey and Bob Smith.
