Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charlie M. Wooten, who departed this life on October 26, 2024, at the age of 82.

Charlie was born on May 6, 1942 in Douglas, Georgia where he spent his childhood farming and developing a love of plants and nature. He dedicated over 30 years to his work maintaining and beautifying the Famous Amos Restaurants in Jacksonville, Florida before retiring.

Charlie loved his property in Keystone Heights where he spent many weekends with his wife and children and, in the later years, his grandchildren. He enjoyed making nature trails on the property and riding his ATV. He was passionate about woodworking and gardening and for a brief time even had a Christmas Tree farm on the property. Charlie also loved wearing his cowboy hats and boots wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; two children, Danny (daughter-in-law Karla) and Lori; his three grandchildren, Josh, Hannah, and Ian; his sister Edna Moise and several nieces and nephews.

A chapel service followed by a short graveside service will be held on Friday November 1, 2024, at 9AM at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (www.curefa.org) in Charlie's honor to help fund research to cure his grandson's (Josh) disease.
