IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cherie Joy
Katin
May 6, 1955 – November 8, 2025
Our beloved mother, Mimi, sister, and friend, Cherie Joy Katin (Chaffe), passed away peacefully on the morning of November 8, 2025, surrounded by love. A resident of St. Augustine, Florida, Cherie's unique light, gentle kindness, and joyful heart left an imprint on everyone she met.
Born on May 6, 1955, in Jacksonville, Florida, Cherie lived a life that reflected her middle name - Joy. She was known for her kind heart, selflessness, grace, and quiet strength. Cherie's deep love for the Lord guided her through every joy and trial, and her unwavering faith served as a powerful example to all who knew her.
Cherie faithfully served our government for over 30 years, retiring from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention. Beyond her career, her greatest calling was being Mimi—a title she wore with immense pride and love. She found her truest happiness in spoiling her grandchildren, spending time with family and friends, and lending a helping hand whenever someone was in need.
Cherie was a cherished part of her community at The Villages of Seloy, where her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone around her.
She is survived by her beloved sister Christy Del Casele; daughters Ashley (Tony) Syla and Amanda (Jason) Rhodes; grandchildren Anthony, Alexandra, Griffyn, and Jordan; her niece and nephew; and countless dear friends who will miss her radiant spirit. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Christopher "Blackie" and Joyce Chaffe, her daughter Kimberly Rochelle Katin, and her brother Christopher W. Chaffe.
Cherie's legacy is one of faith, grace, and joy. She loved deeply, gave freely, and inspired those around her to do the same. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Arlington Park Funeral Home, with a reception to follow for guests to share memories and honor her beautiful life.
In honor of Cherie's bright and loving spirit, guests are encouraged to wear colors that reflect joy and life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the ALS Association in her memory.
