Obituary

Our cherished mother--Cheryl Ann Oakes, 69, passed away on February 4th, 2026. To know her was to truly feel loved. She is reunited with her parents who went before her: John & Ruth Moody and Ronald Oakes. She is survived by her legacy of a loving and abundant family: Her sisters Jennie & Lyla; her sons Joshua Lloyd & Jack Thorsen; her daughters Sarah Hendricks, Olivia Hendricks & Riley Hendricks; her grandchildren Aila Blanchard, Sunday Rain & Val Lloyd; and her great-grandchild Stormy Blue. Those she mothered beyond blood include many.

Her life revolved around caring for her children and those she welcomed into her heart. While her greatest devotion was to her family, she spent many years serving the communities of The Club at Olde Cypress in Naples FL, the public school system of Duval County FL, and her parents' Southern Baptist church in Jacksonville FL. She also devoted her time to fostering many animals in need and helped to bring them to their forever homes. She truly enjoyed helping others and instilled that in all of her loved ones. Her selflessness was endless.

Though her absence is deeply felt, her impact lives on in all of those who she touched in life--carrying on her kindness, compassion and unending love. Her dearest joy was spending time with family, laughing and teaching those around her to see the humor in life. She walked in boundless faith. She will forever be with us as her presence in this world was remarkable and will never be forgotten.

Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, etc. her loved ones donate to the ASPCA or their local homeless shelters in her name.
