IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence William
Browder, Jr.
January 30, 1932 – June 8, 2021
Clarence William Browder Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on June 8th , 2021. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 30th , 1932 and soon after his family moved to Sweetwater, Tennessee where they had many relatives. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and the University of Tennessee Business College. He was drafted into the United States Army Infantry to serve in Korea. While in Korea he earned two bronze stars.
He married his High School sweetheart Jimmie Burnette upon his return from the war. They resided in Asheville, N.C. and then moved to Jacksonville, Fl. in 1960. They had two children, Daughter Patricia and son Bill Browder. He was employed by Stockton, Whatley and Davin for many years and worked the last 20 years of his career at Farren's Tree Surgeons. Sadly, his first wife Jimmie passed away in 2001.
He was very active in church at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Arlington. He also taught Sunday School there. It was at one of the church functions he happened to meet Myrtle Scoggins, they immediately became like "two peas in a pod" and were married in 2004. Again, sadly Myrtle passed away in March of 2020.
He loved fishing with his son, spending time with family and University of Tennessee Football…GO VOLS! He also was the head coach of many youth football teams in the 70's and 80's. He will be mostly remembered for his kindness and his willingness to help others and his quick dry wit. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence William Browder Sr. and Agnes Gibboney Browder, and sister Mildred Sue Littleton. He is survived by daughter Patricia and son Bill (Dawn), grandchildren Lauren Browder-Tauch (Nick), Kristin Adams (Shane), great grandchildren Sebastian and Aiden. He will be dearly missed by his countless friends and relatives and his faithful Boston Terrier, Sarah.
