Passed away May 6, 2024 in Jacksonville, FL. Coby was born on June 16th, 1970 in Miami, FL to Dennis & Gennele Mayer.
Coby proudly served in the U.S. Navy from Feb, 1990- Jan, 1994. During this time, Coby finished the U.S. Navy A-school, thereafter he was stationed in Mayport, FL where he was assigned to the USS Saratoga Aircraft Carrier. On the USS Saratoga, Coby catapulted aircraft during Desert Shield (2 August, 1990- 17 Jan, 1990) and Desert Storm (17 Jan, 1991- 28 Feb, 1991). The aircraft Coby catapulted off the aircraft carrier consisted of F-14 Tomcats, F-18 Hornets, and A-6 intruders, and while having this responsibility, he used these words, "being in such a dangerous job, motivates you to be safe."
After serving in the Navy, Coby made Jacksonville, FL his home where he successfully completed an Associates degree in Criminal Justice and began working as a corrections officer at the Florida State Prison. Following his career with the state of Florida, Coby worked as a dedicated employee with Norfolk Southern railroad, fulfilling a childhood dream, which was becoming a railroad engineer.
Coby's greatest joy was his family trips to Minnesota and spending time with his children.
Coby Mayer is survived by his daughters Micaela Mayer, SrA Melanie Mayer, his son Mason Mayer, step daughter Madison Weaver, two granddaughters Mila Rahmanovic, and Raya Smoak. Beloved Niece Allison Mayer. Brother Nicholas Mayer (Katie). Parents Dennis & Susan Mayer. Beloved uncle Michael Mayer (Ileana) & cousins.
Preceded in death, Brother Martin "Marty" Mayer & Mother Gennele Brown.
Coby will be remembered for his enthusiasm for life, passion for aviation, the railroad, automobiles, and the pride he had for all of his accomplishments, and most of all, will be remembered as a proud father to his children.
Service will be held at Arlington Park Funeral Home 6920 Lone star Rd Jacksonville, FL 32211 at 1:00pm May 20, 2024.
