Obituary of Cornelio Gorospe
Dr. Cornelio A. Gorospe, 84, affectionately known as "Dr. G." passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born March 31, 1927 to Fernando and Generosa Gorospe in Urdeneta, Philippines. Cornelio graduated in 1955 from the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine. He moved to the United States to complete his training where he met Shirley, married and raised seven children. Residing in Jacksonville since 1968, he practiced as an esteemed Anesthesiologist at Memorial Hospital for over thirty years. Cornelio is survived by his wife Shirley of 55 years; seven children William Gorospe, Douglas Gorospe, Dorothy (Walter) Wood, Lisa Gorospe, Charles (Michelle) Gorospe, Maria (Paul) Schloth and Susan (Charles) Curtis; 20 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother Cesar (Teresita) Gorospe and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. G. will be remembered as a pillar of wisdom, discipline and determination. Dr. G. always encouraged one to be the best they could be in whatever their aspiration, emphasizing education and hard work as the key to success. His life was a testimony to his beliefs. Family will receive friends at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone star Road, for a visitation and Rosary on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and a funeral mass on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 1:00pm, 742 Arlington Road North.
