Obituary of Curtis Jenkins, Jr,

Curtis Francis Jenkins Jr, (AKA - SCOOP JENKINS) was born November 1st, 1946 in Summerville, South Carolina. The son of the late Curtis Francis Jenkins Sr. and Arcada Fleming Jenkins. Curtis attended the Summerville High School where he graduated and later enlisted in the United States Navy on May 20th, 1966 and served until April 09th, 1970 as an Airman E-3. Upon graduating Boot Camp Curtis was assigned to the USS Constellation (CVA-64) Home ported at the Naval Base San Diego California. Curtis received an Honorable Discharge upon completion of his naval service. During his Navy Service Curtis was awarded numerous decorations that included National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and a Unit Commendation. He served his country well and traveled the world serving three tours in Vietnam. He later moved back to South Carolina where he became an employee of Lockheed Martin April 1984 and later transferred to Lockheed Martin Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay Georgia as a Service Mechanic in 1991. Curtis later met Mary K. Wadlington who later became his wife of twenty three years. Curtis worked for Lockheed Martin for over twenty-six years until he decided to retire with his beautiful bride August 2010. Curtis and Mary often spoke about how they met. Mary had a friend that said to her you have to meet somebody nice. Then about a week later Curtis met Mary his soon to be bride. Curtis asked Mary out for a date and wanted to know what was her favorite restaurant, low and behold it was "CHILLIES" and that was the start of TRUE LOVE!... Curtis was a true reader he loved to read all kinds of books and a collector of many fine historical pieces. He will be survived by his wife Mary K. Jenkins, Boo Cat his favorite, Gizmo his other cat, Daughter Angel Powell, Step daughters Nancy Sgaglione, Karen Gonzalez, Step sons George Vebert, and Bruce Vebert. Son-In-Laws Richard Powell and Michael Sgaglione. Nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and a host of families, friends. Curtis Francis Jenkins Jr. will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace our love one until we meet again.
