Don "Duke" Groen passed surrounded by family on April 29, 2017, after a long battle with Lymphoma. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, whom he adored. Family left to carry on his memory are his daughter, Melissa Kilpatrick, and her family, husband, Erik Kilpatrick and their children, Keller & Makennah; his son, Darren Groen, and his family, wife Candace Groen and their children, Bella & Zayden, and his brother Carl Groen and his wife, Roslyn Groen.
Duke graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida in 1959. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He had a diverse career ranging from commercial television production in Hollywood, CA, commercial diving in South Florida, Louisiana, and Dominican Republic, to later a custom home builder and remodeler when settling in Jacksonville, Florida.
He very much enjoyed his family, his church family, fishing, boating and traveling to the Caribbean. We will remember him with love and carry on his passions that he passed along to his children.
Duke was an active member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Arlington. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church. May God take him Home.
