Obituary

On January 18, 2016, Darryl E. Rowland, age 63, left this world too soon so he could be present with the Lord. Darryl was born on February 11, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was an amazing, son, father, mate, and friend. He was quick witted, humble, selfless, and kind. He never wavered in the things he believed in and always spoke his mind. He spent over 25 years working for the state of Florida helping countless people in need. He loved to make others laugh and could turn any dull moment into something enjoyable and funny.

He was an awesome and dedicated father. Darryl loved his "Sammi" with all of his heart and always went above and beyond to provide for her. He loved to make his little girl smile and laugh. He was so proud of her and her accomplishments. He was always there for her and taught her many great and essential qualities that she will be able to take with her throughout her life. He loved his family always making their needs a priority than his own. He loved his dog "Jake" like a son; caring for him as much as his family.

Darryl loved classic rock and other types of music. He was a huge fan of The Who and Pete Townsend. His knowledge of music was unfathomable. He was known in the late 70's and 80's as "Mr. Rock n' Roll" with local radio stations and at concerts. He loved sports, especially college football. He was a graduate of Florida State and was a loyal fan of the Florida State Seminoles. He also had great knowledge of world history and aircrafts.

Darryl was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Labree-Rowland, his father Albert Lee Rowland, and his step- father William Rowland.

He is survived by: His beautiful daughter whom he cherished, Samantha Jones, his long time mate Angie Jones (Niki, Mathew, and Blayce), his best friend Jeff Robinson, and many others in his close circle of friends.

Angie and Darryl shared a favorite Bible verse- 1 Corinthians 13; 4-8, "Faith, Hope, and Love, but the greatest of these is love." To my now Guardian Angel, thank you for teaching and showing me true love.

He will be missed by all of us that knew him, but his generosity, love, and laughter will remain in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Jacksonville Humane Society on behalf of Darryl.

The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date.
