Obituary

David W. Larry moved peacefully beyond this earthly life on January 24, 2021. He was 88 years old, loved and was loved every one of those years. He has now joined his parents, F. Wilbur and Thelma L. Larry along with many loved ones, where the fish always bite. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon Lee, his adored daughters, Sharon Deirdre Larry, Karen Lynne Larry (Leonard Pearson), and Lisa Michelle (Dan) Schnabel. He also leaves behind his granddaughters, Kimberly (JR) Burroughs, Laura (Shawn) Kaiser, Leslie (Jeff) Dykstra, and T'Maro Larry along with great granddaughters Hanna and Emma Burroughs and Leah and Hayley Dykstra.

David served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. During the Korean War he was posted at Burtonwood, England where he discovered his love of electrical engineering. After discharge, David attended Jacksonville University and received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Florida. He began his career working on the first satellites in the space program, continuing through the Gemini and Apollo programs.

David often shared his life-long love of music with friends and family. He taught his daughters the joy of harmonizing, accompanied by his guitar or ukulele, when they were very young. He is now picking and grinning with his favorite musical cohorts, Bob Spitler and John Schneider.

David's life ended where it began, on the St. John's River. He spent his last days doing what he enjoyed more than anything – fishing with his family. Your wall-to-wall girls mourn your passing, but we take comfort in the knowledge that you are watching over us from Heaven. You go, Daddy-o.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
