Obituary of Dennis Pickrell
Dennis Eugene Pickrell, 56, born in Siloam Springs, AR passed away on April 7, 2009 in Jacksonville, FL. He was the much beloved husband of 33 years to Kathy Jean (Davisson) Pickrell. Dennis spent eight years in the U.S. Navy and his fondest memories were of the time he spent on the USS L.Y. Spears (AS 36) during their Mediterranean Cruise. Dennis was employed in the Information Systems at FCCJ for 23 years. He had earned his bachelor's degree from Jones College. Dennis was well known in the dog show community as kennel help. He was also co-owner and breeder of several champion dogs. Dennis was beloved by many dogs; including Boxers, three varieties of Dachshunds, and the odd Curly Coated Retriever. His lap was usually occupied by at least one four legged free loader looking for a hand out and failing that, a pat and a smile. Dennis was a big man, big hearted, loving, kind, and generous to a fault, sloppy, messy, and steadfast. His friends will know that he is heaven with some of his much loved pets; he has overcome his fear of heights. A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 2-4 pm at the home of Jim and Paula Crosby. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Take The Lead, P.O. Box 6353, Watertown, NY 13601, or on-line at www.takethelead.org in memory of Dennis.
