Obituary of Donavan Peterson

Donavan "Don" C. Peterson, 83, of Jacksonville, FL was received by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. He was born in Eden, Iowa on June 28, 1931. He was transferred to the area in 1970 from Grand Forks, ND, where he continued to work for the railroad until his retirement. Don was instrumental in helping with the construction of Grace Lutheran Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Peterson; his parents, Paul and Lyla Peterson and his sister, LaVonne Heinen. He is survived by his six children, Roxanne (Larry) Matthys, Donna Alexander, Paula (Jim) Cox, Mark (Patty) Peterson, Tracy (Wade) Nield and Jennifer Kolar; he was loved and known as Papa to his sixteen grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his best friend and helpmate, Cheryl Anderton and a host of extended family and friends. Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church, 12200 McCormick Rd., Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund.
