Obituary of Donna Sperling

Donna Sperling, 74, It is with sad news, that our wife, mother, aunt, grandmother "Nona", Donna Sperling passed away peacefully on Friday Oct. 25, 2013 after complications from Alzheimer's, with her loving husband Don by her side. She was born Donna Jean Blackford on Oct. 7, 1939 in Johnstown, PA. She graduated from Johnstown Catholic High and attended Pitt University School of Nursing. Donna married her high school sweetheart, Jim McGregor in 1959. Together they raised four children, eventually settling in Jacksonville, Florida, where she became very active in tennis. With her children grown, Donna entered the business world as an on-site Realtor for some of Jacksonville's top builders. She was an active member in the Sales and Marketing Council and a Multi Million Dollar producer winning many achievement awards. So they say in life and tennis, "Love is better the second time around". And on the courts is where Donna met her Match Point Love, Don Sperling. Donna and Don Married in 1992 and blended their six children, who gave them eight grandchildren together. Donna was a beautiful person, a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring Nona. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She enjoyed life to the fullest, made friends for life and had a heart of gold. She lit up the room when she entered, and we know she is now a shining light in heaven. We are blessed to have had her as our mom, friend, wife, and loved one. She is survived by her husband of 21 years - Don; children - Dede McGregor-Sweet, Doug McGregor (Terri), Carri Ann McGregor, Terry Dean McGregor,(Debra), Donald Sperling Jr. (Beth) and Suzanne Dunn(Stanley); grandchildren - Matthew, Michael and Catie McGregor, Paige and Mitchell McGregor, Megan and Lindsey Dunn and Conner Sperling.

She was preceeded in death by her parents Dean and Hilda Blackford, first husband Jim McGregor, and son-in-law David Sweet. Memorial service will be held Friday November 1st, 11:00 a.m. at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211.
