Obituary of Doris Catts

Doris LaDonna Catts, born August 24, 1946, and crossed over to Jesus, May 16, 2012. Donna was born and raised in east Tennessee. Her family had lived up in the mountains of Tennessee for many generations. She was absolutely a full blooded hillbilly, and proud of it, and I am proud to have been married to her for the forty-one years that we had together. Donna was a much loved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, daughter, friend, teacher, and wife. She is survived by her three sons, Daigel, Travis (Suzanne), and Tracy (Jennifer). She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Cayla, Cody, Zachary, and Mike, and her husband Richard. Donna was always willing to sacrifice for her boys and would go to any length to make sure that they were able to participate in any school activities, trips, or special events that they wanted to. She would spend her last dollar to make sure her boys were dressed just right. She did all she could to provide a good childhood for her children.

Donna was always quick to help or provide for "her kids" at Windy Hill school. She gladly provided shoes, clothes, jackets, or money for lunches or field trips, or extra help with their reading. Mrs. Catts, as she was known to her kids, purchased games, supplies and anything that was necessary to provide for the extended day classes she taught at Windy Hill Elementary for thirty-three years. We would frequently have grown "children" in our neighborhood walk up to us in line at local stores, or stop and speak at restaurants, and indicate that they remembered Mrs. Catts for her firm hand and lots of love. Nanny as she was known to her grandchildren, adored the grandkids and was glad to finally see a girl grandchild, (Cayla), born to her childrens generation, (the only one for two generations). My wife was a devoted and straight talking woman who was a walking testimony of tough love. She will be sorely missed and loved by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and having been loved by her. A visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, May 18. 2012 at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Rd. Jacksonville, Florida. Services will be Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
