Obituary of Doris Colbert

Doris R. "Meme," Colbert, 89, entered heaven from Jacksonville, Florida on August 13, 2015. She was born December 29, 1925 in Ocala, Florida. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Joseph E. Crosby, Sr and Lottie Morrison Crosby. Her 3 brothers, Joseph E. Jr, Harold A., and her twin, Dennis H., predeceased her, as did her precious grandson Kristopher B. Colbert and her husband of almost 37 years, Robert L. Colbert.

Doris participated in numerous activities giving back to the community and glorifying her God. She was very social and brought joy and love to all she met. She loved crochet, sewing, crafting, and was known for making clothes and dolls for her grandchildren, as well as jewelry, and other items, for everyone she met. In her later days she could not see someone without giving them something, even if it was something not quite new. She just LOVED to give. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards; especially with her husband and family. Family always came first to MeMe, but then again, everyone she met felt like family.

Doris is survived by her loving children, Ron Colbert, Rick (Vicky) Colbert, Don (Jana) Colbert, and Wanda Colbert (George) Brigman, 10 beloved grandchildren, 6 grand-in-love's, and 20 definitely great-grandchildren.
