Obituary of Doris Raulerson
RAULERSON, Doris (Edmondson) 96, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2011. Born on April 22, 1914, in Jacksonville, FL, Doris was the middle child of Wade and Mary Etta Edmondson. She was predeceased by her husband, Preston; her parents; her brother, Leo; and her sister, Cleo Galphin. A native of Jacksonville, FL, Doris graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1932, and worked as a switchboard operator and clerical support for Ivy H. Smith and Furchgott's. Doris married Preston Raulerson in May 1946, and at the time of his death in February 2011, they had celebrated nearly 65 wonderful years of marriage together. Doris was a faithful member of Arlington Baptist Church for more than 57 years. Serving as the church pianist for over 25 years, she is fondly remembered for her lifelong love of the piano, playing well into the last years of her life. As a talented cook, Doris was best known for her expert baking and Sunday dinners lovingly made from scratch. More than anything, Doris was devoted to her family and took great pride in ensuring that her loved ones were well cared for through her generosity, hard work, and hospitality. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and servant of Christ, she will be greatly missed. Doris is survived by her daughters Sheryl Williams and Claire (John) Clardy; her grandchildren, Casey Clardy, Max Williams and Tyler Clardy; her sister, Frances (Cecil) Acree; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Road, Jacksonville FL, 32211, on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 2:00 to 3:00pm with funeral service to follow at 3:00pm, with Rev. Fred Norman officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL.
