Obituary

Dorothy Veitch Goodwin Lane, 100, went to meet her Lord and Savior on January 6, 2018. She was born in Meridian, Mississippi on December 12, 1917.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Isaac Lane, Sr.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 52 years, served as an Elder, youth advisor, circle chairman, Bible moderator, Vice-President and President of the Women of the Church, receiving an Honorary Life Membership by the Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1983 and served as President of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter AD.  She was a Red Cross and Hospice Volunteer and a Grey Lady. She sang in the glee club in high school and on the local radio station.  She loved teaching children about Jesus and taught Sunday School for over 60 years.  She loved to play bridge, loved all sports and played golf until she was 84 years old with a Hole in One at Ft. Bliss, Texas Golf Club. She dearly loved her family and her Lord.  She is survived by her children, Dixie Stone (Carroll), Barbara Flynn, William I. Lane, Jr. (Lisa), Suzanna Ryan (Jim), sixteen Grandchildren, twenty-one Great Grandchildren, and nine Great Great Grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL with Dr. Robert Morris officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 118 East Monroe Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202 and/or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
