Dorothy T. Clark, 97, joined our Lord in heaven on August 23, 2017 in Port Charlotte, Florida. She is fondly remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a loyal friend to all who knew her.
Dorothy's deep love for her family, friends, sports, and her southern heritage was undeniable. Dorothy graduated from Georgia College and was a school teacher for many years, but spent much of her time building and managing the behind the scenes tasks of the then-prominent Clark Pest Control business that she and her husband, Harvey, started in 1952. Dorothy was very active in the United Daughters of The Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the PTA. Dorothy presided as UDC Florida Division President and Jacksonville's Robert E. Lee Chapter President for a number of years; was the UDC General Organization Recorder of Crosse of Military Service, as well as holding many other prominent positions within these organizations. She was a member of Hogan Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Harvey Richard Clark and her devoted daughter, Dianne Clark Godina.
Dorothy is survived by her son-in-law, Ronald Godina, granddaughters Natalie (Stephen) Caselden Godina, and Katherine (Nathan) Edwards, and great-granddaughter Paisley Faye Edwards. Dorothy is additionally survived by a son Dick (Susan) Clark, their children: Ellen, David, and Laura, and their families, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Clark/Godina family will receive friends at 11:30am, Friday, September 1, 2017 for a Visitation Gathering in the chapel of the Arlington Park funeral home. A Celebration of Life will begin 1:00pm, with Pastor Dr. Peter Copeland officiating.
