Obituary of Edward Johnson

Edward "Eddie" Alden Johnson was born to the late Albert and Sarah Johnson on August 8, 1930 in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. He served in the Army for two years. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the The State of New Jersey Amateur Softball Association in 2007. He was also a great amateur tennis player; he won many tournaments throughout the country. He became a teacher and taught for 35 years in Plainfield, New Jersey, as well as, Jacksonville, Florida where he retired from Arlington Middle School. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his son, Edward Johnson, Jr. (Leslie).

He leaves to mourn his passing the following: his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Constance Johnson; four children, Tracey Montgomery (George), Timothy Johnson (Nicole), Tammy Douglas (Hector), and Terry Brooks (Quentin). He also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Kiara Joyner, Courtney Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Timothy Johnson II, Maya Montgomery, Joi Montgomery, Kaden Brooks, Haleigh Douglas, Liam Brooks, and Heather Douglas. Two sisters: Louvinia Martin and Juanita Toombs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The viewing will be held on October 29, 2015, at 6:30 until 7:30 at Arlington Park Cemetery and Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL. 32211. Funeral services will be held on October 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1118 West Beaver Street, Jacksonville, FL. 32204.
