Obituary of Edwin Underwood
Edwin Roland Underwood, Sr., age 86, a resident of Jacksonville, FL, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 10:30am in Trinity Living Center, Grove City, PA following a massive stroke. Mr. Underwood was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 24, 1925 to the late Clark William and Ina Kangas Underwood. He married Frances Riens on September 21, 1948; he preceded her in death on May 27, 2009. Edwin retired from the Electro-Motive-Division of General Motors where he was a Machinist for 30 years. He was a veteran, serving in the US Army during W.W. II in Germany and he was a member of Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church, Jacksonville. During his life he was a private pilot and he was active with the Gideon's and formerly he was involved with Baptist ministries for the homeless. He is survived by, one daughter, Karen Underwood Campbell and husband Van, Grove City, PA; two grandchildren, Derek Campbell and wife Elizabeth, Altoona and Joanna Totin and husband Jonathan, Butler, PA; three great grandchildren, Elsie, Noah and Zoe, sister-in-law, Karla Underwood, The Villages, FL and nieces and nephews of the Pintello family. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Edwin Roland Underwood, Jr. and one brother, Leroy Underwood. Memorial Tributes To: Gideon's International, P.O. Family will receive friends at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL for a visitation on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and a funeral service at Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church, 4000 Kernan Blvd S Jacksonville, FL on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11:00am with the Rev. William Crook, Senior pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
