Elizabeth Katherine Barnes Alderman, 95, born April 2, 1922 to James Sylvester Barnes and Mae Stoddard Barnes in St. Augustine, Florida, passed away May 5, 2017 in Hilliard, Florida.
She grew up in Jacksonville and went to work at the Merita Bakery at the age of 16 while attending school at Kirby-Smith. She married Cecil Joiner who was killed early in WWII.
Then in September 1945 she married Warren Alderman. Eventually they built and worked together at W.F Alderman Piping and Welding Company. She worked with her husband until his death at which time she went to work at Holly Edwards.
She was a long-time member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church and until her illness she actively participated in the "Shut - in Ministry" and the Senior Adult Choir.
She was preceded in death by both parents, sons, James Frederick Alderman, and Dana Warren Alderman, husband of 33 years Warren Frederick Alderman; Brothers Norman, Jay and Fred Barnes and extended family members.
Betty is survived by her youngest son Mark David Alderman (Karen), grandson Mark Jr (Teri) Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.
The Alderman family will receive friends for a Visitation Gathering 10AM-11AM, Thursday, May 11, 2017. A Celebration of Life will begin 11AM in the chapel of the funeral home.
