Obituary

Elizabeth Millis Emmick was born on October 31, 1922, to the late Van and Mabel Millis. She lived all her 101 years in Jacksonville, Florida.

Elizabeth graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1941. She married Hascle Earnest Emmick on October 27, 1946.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hascle, sisters Margaret Napier and Eva Crawford, brothers Van (Buddy) Millis, Jack Millis and Mickey Millis. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Cox (John), Barbara Reid (Jim) and Janet Emmick, sisters, Jean King and Jackie Farford. She is loved, honored and respected by 6 grandsons: Michael (Marjorie), Brad and Christopher Cox, David (Stacy), Scott (Ashley), and Steven (Lauren) Reid, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and two great- great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. Her positive outlook on life was a blessing to all who knew her. She made everyone smile and found the silver-lining in every situation. Elizabeth was a woman full of life and love. She was always smiling and had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. She was an active member at Maranatha Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the senior choir. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many people. The void she leaves in the hearts of those who loved her will be filled with the many memories made throughout her life. She was "large and in-charge", quick-witted, knowledgeable about the events of the day, and mechanically inclined, as was her father, Van Millis. So many have said, they want to be "just like her when they grow-up".

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Ft. Caroline Baptist Church, 11428 McCormick Road.
