Obituary of Elizabeth Waters

Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" T. Waters, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 16, 2013. She is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was born on January 15, 1929 in La Crosse, FL to the late Bob and Annie Thomas. She was a retired secretary from the Duval County School Board. Liz has been a longtime member of Arlington United Methodist Church, having been involved with Super Seniors and volunteering on a regular basis. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Elizabeth Waters; and brothers, Bishop, W.M., Henry, Roland and Jesse Thomas. She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Trent) Hayes and Pam (Tim) DeLay-Gerard; grandchildren, whom she called the Fab 5, Ashley Elizabeth Maynard, Jason Minton DeLay, Lauren Michelle Maynard, Sarah Rebecca DeLay and Rachel Elizabeth DeLay; sisters, Mary (Frank) Towers and Rebecca Spires; brother, Bob (Carolyn) Thomas, numerous nieces and nephews and many treasured friends. Liz's greatest joy was being Granny to the Fab 5. Family will receive friends on February 19, 2013 from 6-8PM at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11AM at Arlington United Methodist Church, 1400 University Boulevard North, Jacksonville, FL. Interment will follow in La Crosse, FL at New Hope Cemetery at 2PM. If you desire, please make contributions to Arlington United Methodist Church.
