July 16, 1934 – July 19, 2025
Elmer Aponte, 91, beloved son of Raimundo and Celia Aponte of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, passed away on 19 July.
Elmer proudly served in the United States Air Force for over 11 years attaining the rank of Airman First Class (A1C). His service included an overseas tour in Mildenhall, England during the 1950s. While in the Air Force, Elmer was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. Elmer was known for his work ethic and ability to easily repair any part of the radar and aircraft he worked on.
Elmer was an avid engineer and radio controlled (RC) plane designer. He designed and built over 10 different RC planes which he flew with his veteran buddies for many years.
Elmer Aponte is survived by his sister Angela Aponte, his nephew Raymond Aponte, niece Diana Aponte, and niece Joanne Kirkpatrick. Mr. Aponte was a devoted son, brother and uncle.
